How It Started
Callum is a 17 year old American-British talent, who has been racing since the age of 9. His passion for racing was born while watching his first NASCAR Cup Series live at the Kansas Speedway. With the excitement of seeing the cars in the pits and the speed from the grandstands, he knew he wanted to race too. Fast forward a few months and he was testing a dirt flat kart, loved it, and started his career in competitive dirt flat kart & dirt cage kart racing in the Midwest, competing in the Hoosier Great Plains Predator Series.
The Championships
The first championship win came in 2020, in the Jr 2 clone class, where Callum picked up 4 feature wins that season. The following year he took his second championship in the Jr 2 predator class after an impressive season, of 11 races won.
In 2022, Callum moved up to the very competitive adult cage kart class, racing against many drivers twice his age. He started the season strong, surprising many of the veteran drivers, by taking a win in the opening race. He fought hard for the lead, and championship points, many times leading the points standings during the season, finishing third overall, thanks to his consistent race results, and 2 wins.
From Karts To Cars
In January 2024, Callum got the opportunity to test a Legend Car at Irwindale Speedway, Los Angeles, California, with Ricky Schlick Racing. He got up to speed quickly learning all the ins and outs of the car, and ran a total of 150 laps with his best time being a 17.000. He decided to pursue Legend Car racing and started racing at one of the biggest Legend Car races in America, the Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Callum is driven and focused on becoming a professional racing driver, taking all the steps, and making as many connections as possible, to make it a reality. With his passion and determination, Callum Thorp is poised to continue climbing his way up the motorsports ladder.
